The clashes that took place between 1992 and 1997 claimed lives of several people from the tribe. The tribe considers this a 'black day' in their history.
Speaking on the occasion, an executive member of the organising committee, Mary said, "On this day, we the Kukis are organising this program to observe the 25th Anniversary of Kuki Black day. This day has been celebrated annually all over India."
