Gear up for 6th edition of North East India Choral Competition

New Delhi [India], 1 Nov (ANI): Through music, the rich culture and tradition of the people of North-East will be beautifully weaved together to resonate in Delhi.

By celebrating 'Togetherness', a harmonious relationship and understanding among the North-East communities at large is envisioned, the 6th edition of the North East India Choral Competition is all set to be held on November 4 at the Thyagaraj Stadium here.

Since its inception in 2012, around 30 choirs have taken part in the annual singing competition showcasing the unique culture, traditions and music of the region in the city.

Curated by the Tangkhul Christian Charitable Trust under the theme 'Togetherness', the event will be graced by Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, cabinet ministers of the Government of Manipur.

Altogether, nine choir groups from the northeast states will be vying for the prestigious title with cash prizes of Rs. 3 lakh for the winner, Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh for first and second runners-up respectively.

With an aim to bring together the various churches and fellowships of North-East community in Delhi, a joint service will be conducted in conjunction with the occasion for harnessing love and harmony. Jim Joy of Global Harvest Ministries International will be the main speaker for the occasion.

The event will see some of the renowned international musicologists as judges of the competition.

During the fifth edition, 12 choirs from three States (Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram) participated in the choral competition and Delhi Ao Baptist Church, a community from Nagaland, won the first prize. (ANI)
