Devotees celebrate Buddha Purnima

A large number of devotees thronged the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh to offer prayers to Lord Shiva on the occasion of the fifth ‘Shravan Somvar.’

Additionally, Kanwar Yatra is a significant ritual during this period. People gather water from sacred rivers for this rite and place it in little mud pots known as Kanwars. Devotees don saffron-coloured clothes while carrying the holy water and walk on foot to visit temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees who are termed Kanwariyas visit places like Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand, and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch the holy water of River Ganga and then worship the God with that water.

These are thin noodles made up of a variety of flour like rice, wheat, and other gluten-free grains like ragi, jowar, etc. Some people also make vermicelli using moong beans, sweet potatoes, etc.

Easter Sunday is a religious Christian holiday that is observed globally to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and while holidays like Christmas have fixed dates, the date for Easter changes from year to year. According to the Bible, it marks the third day after Jesus was crucified when he rose from the dead. Around the world, Easter is celebrated in various ways, with many cultures incorporating their own traditions and customs into the holiday.

During Navratri, devotees also prepare traditional snacks in their homes and sing bhajans to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga. On Navratri, people observe fasting for all nine days. In addition, some people fast for the first two or last two days of the festival. It is believed that Goddess Durga fulfils the wishes of those who fast on these days.
