New Delhi, [India], June 22 (ANI): J K Organization, in collaboration with Pushpawati Singhania Hospital and Research Institute Multispecialty Hospital, organized a two-day blood donation camp in New Delhi to collect 4043 units of blood. About 4200 people and employees of J K Organization registered for the humanitarian cause and came forward to support the blood donation drive through their participation. The camp was organized at Nehru House, Gulab Bhavan, Delhi to commemorate the 84th birth anniversary of late Hari Shankar Singhania, former president of the J K Organisation. Donors were tested for blood pressure, haemoglobin, weight check, etc, in the camp organized by PSRI Multi-specialty Hospital before donation. Every donor was given a certificate of appreciation for his and her contribution. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dushyant Singh Rawat, HOD, Transfusion Medicine, PSRI Multi-specialty Hospital, said, "Blood donation is a noble cause and large no of donors from JK Group have participated in this drive. We are thankful to our donors for understanding the importance of this blood donation camp and coming forward to support it." "Blood donation and transfusion service in our country is poorly distributed, and it is through camps such as this that awareness can be raised on the importance of donating blood, which can help save lives in emergency situations. The idea is to make people realize the huge impact they can make by a simple gesture and PSRI hospital has taken a step in this direction," added Singh He further said that India faced a ten percent shortage in its estimated blood requirement in 2015-16. The estimated requirement is around 1.2 crore units per annum, which still needs to be increased.
