Himachal Pradesh: Snowfalls causes road blockade in Kinnaur, temperatures dips in different districts

(Kinnaur) Himachal Pradesh [India], Dec 13 (ANI): Heavy snowfall through the night and in the morning hours on Friday is causing huge traffic problems for people residing in Kinnaur district as the roads have been blocked in several areas due to weather conditions.

(Kinnaur) Himachal Pradesh [India], Dec 13 (ANI): Heavy snowfall through the night and in the morning hours on Friday is causing huge traffic problems for people residing in Kinnaur district as the roads have been blocked in several areas due to weather conditions.
In the morning, the road connectivity in Yangthang, Pooh, Moorang, Kalpa and Sangla areas of the district has been blocked.
The white sparkling snow had covered all the parked vehicles, roofs and trees in the morning today.
Likewise, popular tourist destinations Kufri, Narkanda and Kharapathar areas of Shimla district have also experienced heavy snowfall.
Kharapathar received over 30 centimeters fresh snowfall causing blockage at the Jubbal, Rohru, Mandhol and Tikkar area of the region.
Following downpours and snowfall, the maximum temperature has decreased by 7-8 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours in most areas of Himachal Pradesh.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, more rain and snowfall is expected in the state in the second half of the day today.
Besides, Himachal Pradesh, Pir Panjal district of Jammu and Kashmir also received heavy rainfall causing road blockage at Mughal Road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region.
The local authorities are making efforts to clear the snow on the 86-kilometer long historic road.
According to IMD, heavy rains or snow is also very likely over isolated places over Uttarakhand especially Shimla and its adjoining areas.
Even some isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to be battered with downpour today. (ANI)
