B-Town lauds 'India's pride' Dipa Karmakar

New Delhi, Aug. 15 (ANI): Though Indian trailblazing gymnast Dipa Karmakar missed out on an Olympic medal by a whisker, her stellar performance at the world's biggest stage has filled the B-Town with awe. From Amitabh Bachchan to Karan Johar, all took to their respective Twitter handles to laud the 23-year-old gymnast. "#DipaKarmakar .. the pride of India .. your story is what compels us to do better ... and we will !! Many congratulations !!" wrote Amitabh Bachchan. "You may have lost but you've won a million hearts and inspired a lot more to walk your path. Cheers to your spirit #Dipa Karmakar! #Proud," tweeted Akshay Kumar. Dipa missed out on an Olympic medal by 0.150 points despite successfully executing the dangerous Produnova vault (15.266) in her second attempt to secure 15.066 points overall. Her fourth-place finish in the individual vault final at the Rio Olympics is India's best performance at an international event till date. The Tripura-girl, who vaulted into limelight with her death defying leap, had earlier created history when she became the first Indian gymnast to enter the final on her debut at the quadrennial multi-discipline games after finishing eighth in the qualifying round.
