Washington DC, [USA] July 09 (ANI): Streaming giant, Netflix is set to launch an Indian horror series 'Ghoul'.
The series will be streamed worldwide on August 24, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
Ghoul is based on an Arabic folk story. The series is set in a covert detention centre where a newly recruited interrogator, Nida who turned against her own father as an anti-government protestor.
The character of Nida eventually discovers that some of the terrorists who are held are not from this world.
Written and directed by Patrick Graham, the series will see 'Padman' star Radhika Apte playing a major role alongside 'Tumhari Sulu' star Manav Kaul.
The series is produced by Blumhouse alongside Ivanhoe and India's Phantom Films.
Blumhouse marked its debut in the horror genre in India "and we're excited to share this project with horror enthusiasts around the world," the Hollywood Reporter quoted Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum of 'Paranormal Activity' fame as saying.
Netflix for the last few weeks has been foraying into the Indian market in an aggressive pace. They are slated to release upcoming cricket series 'Selection Day' and spy caper series 'Bard of Blood'.
The spy series will be co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment production house.
On July 6, Netflix The streaming giant recently premiered its debut Indian series 'Sacred Games' which stars Bollywood stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan portraying major roles. (ANI)
