Netflix series 'Narcos'

Washington DC, [USA] July 19 (ANI): Netflix's drug cartel drama 'Narcos' will go back in time when it shifts its storyline to Mexico for the upcoming fourth season.
The new drama has been named 'Narcos: Mexico'.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, after three seasons of exploring the Columbian cocaine war, the focus in the fourth season will now be shifted on the drug wars led by Mexico's Guadalajara cartel in the 1980s.
In the new season, 'Ant-Man' star Michael Pena and Diego Luna of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' fame will be seen playing lead roles.
The announcement for the new season marked the end of main character Pedro Pascal, who played the role of the notorious Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar.
'Narcos: Mexico' will explore the origins of Mexican drug trafficking world, when it used to be disorganized. The new season will track the rise of the infamous Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Felix Gallardo (Luna) takes up the responsibility of unifying the unorganised traffickers in order to create a drug empire.
"The origins of the Guadalajara cartel are in the late 1970s and early 1980s, so Narcos is going back in time," Hollywood reporter quoted showrunner Eric Newman as saying.
"We always knew that we would get to Mexico eventually. A key team comprised of myself and the guys I really trust and work very closely with - [director] Andi Baiz, [co-creators] Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro - have been discussing how to best transition to Mexico as early as season two. We decided on the Guadalajara cartel because it represents the beginning of the modern Mexican drug trade. It makes sense to start there," he added.
The story gets interesting when DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Pena) moves with his wife and young son to Guadalajara to take up a new post.
He finds out that his job would be more challenging than expected when he gets entangled while collecting intelligence on Felix. Thereafter, things start changing which eventually also leads to the unending drug wars.
Felix is the leader of the Guadalajara cartel and is considered one of the most infamous men to kick-start the modern Mexican drug trade.
In the series, he is portrayed as a bold, shrewd and a leader benevolent to his loyal friends, but his ambition is what overrides everything else.
The new season will premiere globally later this year. (ANI)
