Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 21 (ANI): Actor Jimmy Shergill is gearing up for the release of his web series 'Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond'.
Directed by Santosh Singh, the show revolves around the Balakot airstrikes carried out by the Indian Air Force on a terror camp in Pakistan on February 26, 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack. It also shows what went behind the scenes during the watershed event.
Sharing his experience working in 'Ranneeti', Jimmy said, "I was surprised by a whole lot of things that go into behind-the-scenes events in Balakot. This is what sets this series apart from others. It portrays the series of events during Pulwama and Balakot and how they were dealt with. Also I want to give credit to Santosh Singh, for his ability to enhance the series, incorporating subtle yet impactful details into his character."
He added, "I just love working with young directors like Santosh Singh, noting their ability to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches, enriching the creative process. I don't try to find points of relatability with characters; I just read the script. If a character appeals to me, I collaborate with directors to refine them. My idea of a character is to stay true to the character's essence and bring them to life authentically."
Lara Dutta, Ashutosh Rana, and Ashish Vidyarthi are also a part of the show, which will be out on JioCinema on April 25.
Recently, in an interview with ANI, Lara, who plays a power broker in the show, opened up about what audience can expect from the 'Ranneeti'.
"It is based on true events that rewrote the history in many ways of our country. So, the Pulwama attack had its own repercussions with the Balakot airstrike. But it goes beyond just these isolated incidents because it puts India in a world perception as a power that would refuse to back down and I think India took a very, very strong stand," she said.
"And it changed the way that India was perceived the world over from a military point of view, from a political point of view from a world power point of view. And very few people within the country know what went on behind closed doors, that high tension, the urgency of those situations when they were happening, what were they what they felt like," Lara added.
