Alec Baldwin wins Emmy for impersonating Donald Trump on 'Saturday Night Live'

New Delhi [India], Sept. 18 (ANI): 'Saturday Night Live' veteran Alec Baldwin won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2017 Emmys for his portrayal of President Donald Trump on the show.

The actor started his acceptance speech by joking about giving Trump his first Emmy win.

He said, "I suppose I should say at long last Mr. President, here is your Emmy."

Adding, "I wanna thank my wife, my wife and I had three children in three years and we didn't have a child last year during the SNL season and I wonder if there's a correlation there. All you men out there, you put that orange wig on, it's birth control trust me."

Emmys host Stephen Colbert gave Trump and Baldwin a shout-out during his opening monologue.

Meanwhile, Baldwin's co-star Kate McKinnon accepted her Emmy and thanked Hillary Clinton for her grace.

Lorne Michaels and the staff of SNL also took home the award for best variety sketch series.

Michaels reflected on the show's very first season during his acceptance speech, saying that he predicted there would never be a season "as crazy, as unpredictable, as frightening" and "as exhilarating."

"Turns out I was wrong," he joked.

'Saturday Night Live' upped its already high bar for most Emmy nominations for any series in history. The 42-year-old variety show got another 22 this year, building its record to a total 231. (ANI)
