Toni Braxton in financial trouble amid Birdman split

Washington D.C. [USA], Jan 05 (ANI): American singer-song writer Toni Braxton is having a tough 2019 as it was recently revealed that she is facing some financial problems.
According to Court records obtained by E! News, it was reported that Braxton owes nearly half a million dollars in back taxes. The records also showed that last month, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) filed a lien against her, for nearly USD 340,200 in back taxes for 2017 and that the State of California Franchise Tax Board also filed a tax lien against her for over USD 116,100. The total is more than USD 456,400.
However, the singer has not commented on the issue yet.
The Blast, which first reported the news, also stated that both the IRS and the State of California had also filed back tax liens against the singer previous year for more than USD 780,800, citing court records.
Braxton filed for bankruptcy in 1998 and 2010, according to court records. Later the same year, she reported USD 1.6 million in assets and USD 18.3 million in debts, the Wall Street Journal had reported in 2011.
It was later reported that Braxton won an order discharging her from certain debts in her 2010 bankruptcy case.
This news comes amid her split with American rapper Birdman (Bryan Christopher Williams), the pair called off their engagement just after the New Year's.
The former couple had announced their engagement in February, last year.
In November, Braxton had talked about her wedding planning, saying that she was planning a "vintage '20s and '30s-like Great Gatsby-themed" wedding and told Wendy Williams there was a 70 per cent chance they'd be married by the end of 2018.
On the work front, she completed her 'The Hits Tour' in 2017 and continued starring on the WE TV reality show Braxton Family Values. (ANI)
