Sam Mendes and Steven Spielberg

Washington D.C., [USA] June 19 (ANI): Hollywood filmmaker Sam Mendes is set to team up with legendary producer Steven Spielberg for the World War I drama film '1917'.
Mendes, who co-wrote the film, will direct it too.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the script was picked up by Spielberg's Amblin Partners (content creation company).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the deal comes with a commitment of raising $100 million in funds for the movie.
Amblin is also planting a flag for a December 2019 release through the company's distribution partner, Universal Pictures.
This will be the first time behind the cameras for Mendes since directing the last two James Bond movies, Skyfall and Spectre.
Mendes worked with Spielberg on his first two movies while the latter was running DreamWorks.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that this company was behind Mendes' five Oscars for his debut film American Beauty (1999).
"Our company has been a home for Sam since his first film," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Spielberg as saying.
Spielberg expressed his happiness on getting a talented director like Mendes behind the camera
"I am so happy to have him back here in his old room spinning new stories - especially this hugely daring and ambitious new movie." added Spielberg. (ANI)
