Salma Hayek donates USD 100,000 to Mexico's earthquake victims

New Delhi [India], Sept. 21 (ANI): Hollywood actress Salma Hayek has lent support to Mexico's earthquake victims by donating USD 100,000 to UNICEF.

In a video posted on Instagram, the 51-year-old actress "implored" fans to join her in aiding these families.

The actress recalled, "After the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City, I was evacuated from my building. A lot of my friends died, including an uncle that was very, very close to me. I have lived through the aftermath of a disaster of this magnitude, and it's horrific."

Hayek donated USD 100,000 to UNICEF, which as the star explains, has teams on the ground responding at the sites.

She continued, "I implore to your hearts, to the goodness of your hearts and your compassion to help with anything that you can give."

The 'Hitman's Bodyguard' star concluded by saying, "Please join me and contribute what you can and thank you. Click on the link in my bio above."

More than 200 people have reportedly been killed in the powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.1 on Richter scale that struck Mexico on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the quake was felt in the center of Mexico City, which is only about 121 km from the epicenter.

The earthquake struck at a depth of about 51 km.

Several buildings in Mexico City were severely damaged and thousands of people were seen fleding from the office buildings. (ANI)
