Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], May 05 (ANI): Hollywood actor John Lithgow has been roped in to essay the character of Jud Crandall in the official remake of 'Pet Sematary'.

The news has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter who also stated that Jason Clarke will also be a part of the horror film.

The Paramount's adaptation comes from a 1983 novel of the same name, penned by legendary author Stephen King.

The movie will see Lithgow, in the character of Crandall, as a lovely neighbour to a city family. The 1989 original had Fred Gwynne play the part.

The horror-drama revolves around a doctor who brings his pet cat and his son back from the dead by following a ritual of burying the bodies in a specific burial ground.

The film will be helmed by the director duo of Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch of 'Starry Eyes' fame. (ANI)
