'Everyone should be fired, if another goof-up happens at Oscars': Jimmy Kimmel

Washington D.C. [U.S.A], January 9 (ANI): If there was anything that stole limelight more than Donald Trump at last year's Academy Awards, it was the moment when The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences was left red-faced when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner for best film after a mix-up with the envelopes.

Jimmy Kimmel, who was the host of last year' ceremony and is coming back to host this year too, said that everyone should be fired, if another goof-up happens at the Academy Awards.

While speaking at Television Critics Association's press tour, the 50-year-old noted, "If it happens again, literally everyone at ABC should be fired. If it happens a second time, no one is competent enough to be running a TV show or network. I don't think it's going to happen again, but if it did, it would tickle me deeply."

When asked if he would tackle sexual misconduct in Hollywood like Seth Meyers did hosting the Golden Globes, Kimmel noted that this matter will surely be a part of the star-studded event.

"The problem is it's two months from now so it's almost like getting into a hot tub - you can't really know the temperature until you get there. Suffice it to say, I'm sure it'll be part of the subject matter of the show unless there's a nuclear [missile] headed toward Sacramento that night, and then we'll probably skip it," explained Kimmel.

Kimmel also noted he doesn't plan to use his Oscars platform to lobby against Republican efforts to overturn Obamacare.

The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' host was also asked about his frequent on-air frenemy Matt Damon and does it still make sense to make fun of him on his late-night show.

She shared, "Matt Damon was born a joke. I hope that we're focused on something else two months from now, but if there's a chance for me to give Matt a little elbow in the ribs, I'm always open to it."

The 90th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. (ANI)
