Washington D.C. [USA], July 13 (ANI): Australian writer Cate Shortland is all set to direct Marvel Studios' 'Black Widow' standalone movie.
Cate Shortland is best known for the Nazi drama, 'Lore'.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, the flick picked up momentum in January after being in a development for a while, confirmed Variety.
Jac Schaeffer will pen down the script, while Kevin Feige will produce the movie.
The studio met with over 70 directors in order to find its ideal candidate, with a female filmmaker being their priority.
'Black Widow' is reportedly set before the events of the first Avengers movie and sees the actress reprised the role of the Russian spy-turned- superheroine.
The movie will be Marvel's second female-centric film after 'Captain Marvel', which is set to open March 8, 2019. (ANI)
