Women need to be 'much kinder' to each other: Emily Blunt

Washington D.C. [USA], Sept. 22 (ANI): English-American actor, Emily Blunt recently called for more compassion toward and among women when it comes to making family decisions. The 33-year-old actor, who stars in the film adaptation of 'The Girl on the Train', said, "I think we all need to be much kinder to each other, whether you're a man or a woman," reports the Guardian. Raising concerns on the "judgmental" relationship among women, the 'Sicario' star expressed "hate" for phrases that ask a woman whether she can 'keep a man,' have children or breastfeed. "Women are sometimes made to feel to be rather defensive about their decisions," she continued, "and I don't think that's right. Nobody knows the ins and outs of decisions and we can't be too harsh about them." 'The Girl on the Train' is a psychological thriller movie adapted from Paula Hawkins' novel of the same name. In the film, the 'The Royal Family' actor plays Rachel, a recently divorced, unemployed alcoholic. Of the character, she said, "It's so unusual to have your lead protagonist be female and a blackout drunk." "Women are often required to be an ideal of some description: pretty or likeable or witty. But with this character you feel you just don't want to breathe the same air as her. And that sort of toxic persona, physically and mentally, I'd never explored before," she added. Directed by Tate Taylor, 'The Girl on the Train' initially releases in Ukraine on September 27.(ANI)
