No solo for Ariana Grande in 'Hairspray live'

London, Aug. 3(ANI): Pop superstar Ariana Grande is soon to appear as 'Penny' in upcoming live musical show 'Hairspray Live', but unfortunately she won't be getting her own solo song. Executive producer Neil however said Ariana wants to play the part as written. She will be playing the BFF of plus-sized teen Tracy Turnblad and though she gets to sing in several group songs, she doesn't have a song of her own, reports E!Online. "I don't want to change anything about the role or how she develops," she said on the panel. "I just love Penny and it's just such a great honor to play her. I don't want any sort of special icing or parts. This is just really great and I'm so happy," said the 'Dangerous Woman' hit maker. Calling herself a theater geek she adds, "I got to see the Original Broadway Cast [of Hairspray], I think I was 10 or 11, so yes, way too young. Penny's been my favorite character from the start. My theater geek inside, which is what I am, I can't take it!" she said. (ANI)
