Meryl Streep to receive 'Cecil B. DeMille Award' at Golden Globes
Washington D.C. [USA], Nov. 4 (ANI): Hollywood veteran actor Meryl Streep will receive a lifetime award at the Golden Globe Awards next year. For her outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment, the 67-year-old star will receive the 2017 'Cecil B. DeMille Award' at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles in January, reports Entertainment Tonight. Lorenzo Soria, president of the 'Hollywood Foreign Press Association' or the HFPA, in a statement, said, "It's no surprise that the HFPA has chosen Meryl Streep as the recipient of the 2017 Cecil B. DeMille Award. Meryl's enthralling body of work across a diverse set of genres has made her a role model over the past 40 years, and she will continue to do so for generations to come." "[Meryl] has always taken roles with strong female leads, creating art by showing vulnerability and portraying truth on the big screen," the president added. The most recent recipients of the award honoring individuals who have "made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment" include Denzel Washington (2016), George Clooney (2015), Woody Allen (2014), Jodie Foster (2013), Morgan Freeman, (2012), Robert De Niro (2011) and Martin Scorsese (2010). The 'Florence Foster Jenkins' star has won eight Golden Globe Awards from 29 nominations throughout her career, which is the most of any man or woman in all film and television categories combined. Streep won for 'The Iron Lady' in 2011, 'Julie & Julia' in 2009, 'The Devil Wears Prada' in 2006, 'Angels in America' in 2003, 'Adaptation' in 2002, 'Sophie's Choice' in 1982, 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' in 1981 and 'Kramer vs. Kramer' in 1979. The '2017 Golden Globe Awards', hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will air live on January 8. (ANI)
