Confirmed! Jude Law to play young Dumbledore in 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel
New Delhi [India], April 13 (ANI): Finally, it's revealed! Two-time Oscar nominated actor Jude Law will play the role of young Albus Dumbledore in the next 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. After Richard Harris and Sir Michael Gambon, now it's the 44-year-old actor, who will follow their footsteps, to play the role of Harry's headmaster in the Potter films. JK Rowling's Harry Potter website Pottermore revealed that the British actor will portray Dumbledore "long before he became headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". "At this point in the story he is the wizarding school's Transfiguration professor and a contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald - the Dark wizard we met in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, played by Johnny Depp," a statement said. Albus Dumbledore is one of the most iconic characters in J.K. Rowling's wizarding world and the actor who made it famous is Richard Harris in the first two pictures of "Harry Potter", reports the Independent. Michael Gambon later took over the part after Harris' death in 2002. The first 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' was released in November last year and received positive reviews and success at the box office. It became the first film in J.K Rowling's work to win an Academy Award, for Best Costume Design. The sequel will begin filming this summer, and is set for release on 16 November 2018. (ANI)
