'There is hope': Alec Baldwin, stars assure crowd at anti-Trump rally in NYC
Washington D.C. [USA], Jan. 20 (ANI): At a recently held anti-Trump demonstration just a half-mile away from Trump Tower, Alec Baldwin assured the crowd "there is hope" along with other Hollywood actors. The 58-year-old actor, who is known for his Trump impersonation at SNL, said in his speech, "Trump and Pence think you're going to lay down. That's one thing about New Yorkers: You don't lay down," according to Hollywood Reporter. Meant as a stand against President-elect Donald Trump on the eve of his inauguration, according to organizers, the event also featured Mark Ruffalo, Robert De Niro, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Al Sharpton and Michael Moore. Reportedly, De Niro was the first celebrity speaker to take the stage at the rally, which included thousands of attendees stretching across at least five blocks. The veteran actor read mean tweets about the president-elect, adding that he thinks Trump is "a bad example of this country" and the city as well. Baldwin also spoke to insert a few Trump impressions along the way, commenting on the 70-year-old businessman and his cabinet picks. While Ruffalo offered a hopeful note, saying , "We're coming here tonight to protect something precious to us, and that's each other," Cynthia Nixon offered a message to the LGBTQ community. "We are not going back ... we are here, we are queer and we have no fear! The LGBT community has got your back," the 'Sex and the City' star announced. Other actresses and more activists who also took the stage at the event include Shailene Woodley, Marisa Tomei and Julianne Moore. (ANI)
