Ranbir Kapoor turns dacoit for 'Shamshera'

Mumbai [India], May 07 (ANI): Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has signed on to appear in a never seen before avatar of a dacoit in the upcoming Yash Raj Films movie 'Shamshera'.
The 35-year-old actor will be working with the production house after a gap of nine years. His last project with the banner was 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year'.
The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra.
"'Shamshera' is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. 'Shamshera' allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it's a very exciting project for me," Ranbir said in a statement.
"Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I'm looking forward to this challenge," he added.
In the first look of the film, which was released on Monday, Ranbir can be seen as a fierce dacoit carrying an axe and a quiver full of arrows.
'Shamshera' is set to go on the floors by the end of this year and shooting will wrap by mid-2019.
Ranbir, who will next be seen in Sanjay Dutt biopic 'Sanju,' is currently working on Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra,' which will feature him as a superhero. (ANI)
