Mix and match this remix season

New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI) Remember how we borrowed projects from our seniors, made a few changes and submitted them as ours? Seems like Bollywood is in that zone right now.

New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI) Remember how we borrowed projects from our seniors, made a few changes and submitted them as ours? Seems like Bollywood is in that zone right now.
The industry is obsessed with old songs and is treating it with a regular dose of remakes. The recipe is fairly simple, take a popular old song that is still fresh in the hearts of the audience, add a tablespoon of new lyrics and half a cup of trendy beats to it. Now mix it well with a new singer and garnish it with some fresh visuals. Your 'new' song is ready, best served with a freshly backed film. These songs mostly serve as 'item numbers' in the films.
The director serves it to you when least expected on screen. In the midst of an action sequence or just when a mystery is about to unravel, these peppy numbers popup to distract you. As soon as the beat starts thumping you are certain to see a huge colourful set, dancers with energetic moves and of course the actress grooving to the music.
While the debate over how good or bad the trend continues, one cannot deny that these foot-tapping numbers are today inevitable at parties and weddings. Here is a look at some remade songs and their original tracks:
1. Song: Dilbar
Artists: Neha Kakkar, Ikka Singh, Dhvani Bhanushali
Movie: Satyamev Jayate

The song is a rehash of the 1999 'Sirf Tum' song 'Dilbar' featuring Sushmita Sen. The old song was sung by Alka Yagnik.
2. Song: Lag Ja Gale
Artists: Jonita Gandhi
Movie: Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 3

The song is a remix version of the 1964 'Madan Mohan' classic 'Lag ja Gale' sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Featuring Sadhna and Manoj Kumar, this song is one of the most romantic songs of Bollywood.
3. Song: Ek Do Teen
Artists: Shreya Ghoshal
Movie: Baaghi 2

The song is a remake of the 1988 super hit number featuring Madhuri Dixit. Back in 90s, no party, wedding or dance reality show was complete without this number.
4. Song: Halka Halka
Artists: Sunidhi Chauhan, Divya Kumar
Movie: Fanney Khan

The song is a rehash of Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's 'Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai' that came out in 1991. While the original song has a more authentic and classical touch to it, the rehashed version is also upbeat.
5. Song: Gazab Ka Hai Din
Artists: Jubin Nautiyal, Prakriti Kakar
Movie: Dil Juunglee

Straight from the classic 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' soundtrack, the original romantic number features Amir Khan and Juhi Chawala. Sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, the song is pure love.
6. Song: Mehbooba
Artist: Neha Kakkar, Yasser Desai, Mohammed Rafi, Raftaar
Movie: Fukrey Returns

The original song is a Mohammed Rafi classic. The 1997 'Dharam-Veer' song 'O meri Mehbooba, Tujhe jana hai toh ja' is a romantic number featuring Dharmendra and Zeenat Aman, nothing like the rehashed upbeat party number.
As the trend of remixes catches up, one thing is certain that it is the popularity of these evergreen songs that fuel this craze. (ANI)
