New Delhi [India], Oct 13 (ANI): "Kudos to all women who are braving their past trauma and claiming their stories," said Swara Bhasker, while expressing her thoughts about the #MeToo movement in India.
The 'Veere Di Wedding' star said that the campaign, which began in Hollywood in 2017, was a long time coming to India and it's good that it has finally come.
"I think there is no other way to refuse to be shamed than to own your own story and to name your perpetrator and that is what women are doing. We should all listen to them with respect and we should reflect because somewhere we are all part of the silence and the complicity around sexual harassment at the workplace," said the 30-year-old at the sidelines of Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week (LMIFW).
Swara concluded by saying, "I am not talking about just Bollywood, but about every workplace."
As part of the ongoing #MeToo movement, many big names, including Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Nana Patekar, Alok Nath and Sajid Khan, among others have been accused of harassment.
Speaking about the same, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah said that he fails to understand such men "who try to touch women without their consent. The voices that are being raised is a good thing."
The #MeToo movement in India took flight after Tanushree Dutta accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of harassment. (ANI)
