Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 4 (ANI): Veteran actor Prem Chopra is among many other dignitaries from the Indian film industry who arrived at legendary Manoj Kumar's residence to pay respect to the late actor.
Hours after the demise of Manoj Kumar on Friday, Prem Chopra was spotted at the former's residence. Speaking to the media, Chopra felt that Manoj Kumar deserved to be honoured with Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award.
" Usko government ne pura diya nahin. They should have given him Bharat Ratna. He has done so much for the country...There was always a great message in every film that glorified India," Chopra said.
Chopra worked with Manoj Kumar in several films, such as Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), and Mera Saaya (1966).
Manoj Kumar, affectionately known as "Bharat Kumar" for his portrayal in patriotic films, left an indelible mark on Indian cinema with films that inspired nationalism and pride. His passing has left a void in the film industry, with leaders, colleagues, and fans mourning his loss.
He breathed his last on Friday morning at the age of 87.
Kumar's son, Kunal Goswami, confirmed that his last rites will be performed tomorrow at 11 am at Pawan Hans in front of Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle.
Kumar's death was attributed to cardiogenic shock following an acute myocardial infarction. Additionally, he had been battling decompensated liver cirrhosis for several months, which worsened his health. (ANI)
