'Gold' surpasses 'Satyameva Jayate' at the box office

Mumbai, (Maharashtra) [India] Aug 20 (ANI): Despite Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold' surpassing the box office collection of John Abraham's 'Satymeva Jayate' , both the films are going toe-to-toe.
While the big-budget Akshay Kumar starrer has raked in Rs 71.30 Crore on the opening weekend, John Abraham's action flick is going strong with an earning of Rs 56.91.
Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news.
He appreciated 'Gold' for having an 'EXCELLENT' opening weekend.
The collections of the movie dipped on day 2, but showed an upward trend on day 3.
He tweeted, "#Gold has an EXCELLENT *extended* opening weekend... Took a dip on Day 2, but gradually picked up from Day 3 to Day 5... All eyes on Mon-Thu biz... Wed 25.25 cr, Thu 8.10 cr, Fri 10.10 cr, Sat 12.30 cr, Sun 15.55 cr. Total: ? 71.30 cr. India biz."

Adarsh praised 'Satyameva Jayate' for a 'STRONG' opening at the same time.
Interestingly, this movie too suffered a dip on day 2.
He tweeted, "#SatyamevaJayate packs a STRONG *extended* opening weekend total... Went downhill on Day 2, but remained consistent from Day 3 to Day 5... Weekdays biz is crucial... Wed 20.52 cr, Thu 7.92 cr, Fri 9.18 cr, Sat 9.03 cr, Sun 10.26 cr. Total: ? 56.91 cr. India biz."

As of now, the combined earnings of both the films stand approximately over Rs 125 crore. (ANI)
