Bhumi Pednekar talks about breaking stereotypes

Panaji (Goa) [India], Nov 26 (ANI): Actress Bhumi Pednekar spoke extensively about women and breaking the stereotypes in a candid conversation with movie buffs at a special Master-class, at the ongoing International Film Festival of India 2017 on Saturday.

Pednekar, ever since her debut film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', has captivated millions of hearts with her talent and exceptional performances. She has grabbed the limelight with her typically different choice of films.

"Being overweight was linked to being depressed for a long time and I was happy that a film like 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' changed that thinking," the young actress said.

She also emphasised that doing good roles has been her priority and post her debut film, she waited for the right opportunity and perfect script.

Her recently released two films 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Shubh Mangal Savdhan' both talked about unconventional subjects.

"I grabbed onto films like 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' and 'Shubh Mangal Savdhan' because they were important roles written for an actress. I feel I am lucky if I can make a difference to even one life through the films I do," she said.

The actress added the characters in her films were progressive by the thought and 'not by clothes.'

The 48th edition of the IFFI is being held from the November 20-28, 2017 in Goa. (ANI)
