Govt will not subsidise fuel prices, says Pradhan

New Delhi [India], Mar. 28 (ANI): On the country upgrading to Bharat Stage VI (BS VI) fuel from Bharat Stage IV, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said that the government will not interfere or subsidise prices.
"It is already known that petroleum commodity is in the market-driven mechanism. It is up to how the cost is coming. Government is not going to interfere or subsidise price. People will prefer cleaner fuel," Pradhan said following a meeting with Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Pradhan also asserted that the cost was going to reduce health issues and would also address environmental concerns.
Further, the minister said that Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) was getting competitive prices for fuel.
"It is a trade secret of GAIL. I can assure you, I can confidentally say GAIL is getting very competitive price," Pradhan added.
Abbott is in India for an eight-day visit. (ANI)
