Tier II cities gaining popularity during online shopping fest, says Google Trends

New Delhi [India], Oct 2 (ANI): According to an ASSOCHAM survey-cum-analysis, products worth Rs. 25,000 crore will be sold this festive season. With the increase in better infrastructure in terms of logistics, broadband and Internet-ready devices the sales will go up not only in metros but in tier II and III cities as well. The major chunk will come from these cities where internet penetration has increased in the recent past.

New Delhi [India], Oct 2 (ANI): According to an ASSOCHAM survey-cum-analysis, products worth Rs. 25,000 crore will be sold this festive season. With the increase in better infrastructure in terms of logistics, broadband and Internet-ready devices the sales will go up not only in metros but in tier II and III cities as well. The major chunk will come from these cities where internet penetration has increased in the recent past. We bring an analysis of Google trends of the past seven days which has set the mood of online shoppers before the major players like Amazon, ShopClues, Flipkart, Snapdeal announced their festive sales starting from Oct 1st. Google Trends shows that the search for 'Online Shopping' has increased in regions like Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the past seven days. (Analysis done at 8:30 AM on 2nd Oct'16) Further Google Trends shows that under related query search for online shopping sale has increased by 250 percent whereas the search for ShopClues Offer after the launch of its 'Lowest Price Online Challenge' has increased by 80 percent. Snapdeal stands tall at +300 percent in this region. With festive mood gripping the nation and the mad rush to the get best deal during the festive sales customers are making the best use of this across regions. Offers like Itne Kum Mein from ShopClues, The Great Indian Festival from Amazon, The Big Billion Days from Flipkart and Unbox Diwali Sale from Snapdeal is certainly gaining popularity and customers are trying to make the best use of this for their festive season shopping.
