Seniors at BMU advise new batch, class of 2020 at their orientation to focus on 'Work, Study and Play'
New Delhi [India], Sep 6 (ANI-BusinessWireIndia): BML Munjal University's (BMU) students, faculty, and administration welcomed 500 new students and their parents into the campus during Orientation week held between 17th -21st August. With representation from 20 States, the third batch of undergraduate students in B.Tech, B.Com Hons., and BBA programmes stood as a microcosm of India. The week-long, inter-cultural orientation was unique in that it was driven by seniors themselves similar to Ivy League Universities in the US and proved to be inspiring, informative, and fun for the new students and a valuable guide to help them prepare for their BMU experience. Staying true to BMU's core philosophy of creating meaningful industry-academia partnerships, the week saw sessions by luminaries from business and faculty members of the institute. Deep Kalra, Chairman and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip and Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman to Several Companies, Co-founder and erstwhile Chairman of NASSCOM and Serial Entrepreneur, Angel Investor and VC, among others, gave inspirational and practical advice to the incoming students of the BMU family on how to make the most of these foundation years. Deep Kalra and Saurabh Srivastava both urged the students to value the opportunity at BMU they had earned through their hard work. "There is no greater joy than building something from scratch. Create opportunities and grab opportunities. If you do what you really love, the sky is the limit. Once you figure out what it is you are most interested in, you will make it. Next 10 years you should look forward to working hard and sweating it out," said Deep Kalra, CEO, MakeMyTrip. Second and Third year students of BMU, closest to the incoming batch in age and background, made the experience a memorable and enjoyable one by including stellar contemporary and classical performances including dances and songs. There was a different theme every night, such as Freshers Talent Night, Band Night, Theatre Night, and also Ethnic Night decorated with diyas and fairy lights in tow with dhol players to mark and celebrate India's 70th Independence Day. Senior students at the University also exhibited their innovative bent by creating contemporary games like Pokemon Treasure Hunt that helped the new batch discover and explore the sprawling 50 plus acre campus and by creating adventure games like Flying Fox for the more athletic and sporty incoming students. The Orientation-Gateway to BMU symbolizing a journey to learn, explore, and enjoy. Akshay Munjal, President BMU enthusiastically welcomed the new batch, motivated them to study with complete dedication and sincerity and stressed the importance of regularity to get the best output from it. He said, "We realize that each student is unique and, as a community, we strive to maximize that unique potential." He further pointed out BMU's commitment in creating an unparalleled learning environment, and transforming students into well-rounded, industry ready-individuals who are equipped to take on leadership responsibilities from day one of graduating from the university. BMU's philosophy since inception has been to offer a world-class, research-oriented University with an industry-immersive learning environment, benchmarked with global standards. BMU is mentored by Imperial College, London School of Business. Other sessions by external speakers such as Shiva Keshvanan, Winter Olympian; Nipun Malhotra, Co-founder and CEO, Nipman Foundation; Ashish Mathur, Director, Emerson India; Rahul Sehgal, Director, Siemens; Babu Lal, HR, BHEL; Shivjeet Kullar, CEO-NFX Digital; Anil Chopra Retd. Air Marshal, made the Orientation week a world-class and inspirational one. BMU stands apart, with its sharp focus on making students employment-ready. The University is able to do so thanks to its competitive and rigorous admissions process for new students and its focus thereafter, equally on imparting academic excellence and practical knowledge to students.
