NITI Aayog rules out taxing agricultural income

India is rapidly expanding its ship recycling sector and upgrading shipbreaking yards to meet European environmental standards, as part of a broader effort to strengthen its maritime industry and reduce logistics costs, Sushant Kumar Purohit, Chairperson of VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, said today.

In an interview with ANI, Mishra highlighted that India's heavy reliance on imported "dense energy" makes it a primary target for global price volatility. "Every dollar increase per barrel costs approximately $1.8 billion annually. For instance, a $50 increase in oil prices represents a $90 billion impact, which is more than 2% of our GDP if sustained for a year."

Despite the Rs 60 increase in the Domestic 14.2 kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder, LPG prices in India remain lower than in several neighbouring countries, people familiar with the matter told ANI. On Saturday, 14.2 kg cylinder prices were increased by Rs 60, costing about Rs 913 in Delhi compared with around Rs 1,046 in Pakistan, Rs 1,241 in Sri Lanka and Rs 1,207 in Nepal.

NITI Aayog, the central government's premier policy think tank, has signalled a strengthened commitment to transforming India into a global electronics powerhouse through strategic industry partnerships. Posting on its X account, Niti Aayog said, "NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery met with the leadership team of Tata Electronics, led by MD & CEO Dr. Randhir Thakur, to discuss opportunities to accelerate India's electronics manufacturing growth."
