NBCC capital has risen ten-fold under leadership of A K Mittal
New Delhi [India], June 1 (ANI): The National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) is making giant strides under the leadership of its Chairman and Managing Director A.K. Mittal. Mittal, who has been with the NBCC since 1985, became its Chairman and Managing Director in 2013. When he took over as Chairman and Managing Director in 2013, NBCC's capital was pegged at Rs.1270 crores. In the last four years, it has increased ten-fold to Rs.12, 000 crores. NBCC today is handling projects in real estate, power, solar and road construction. Commenting on coordination between the government and various organisations, Mittal to Jagdeesh Chandra, Executive Director, Zee Media, in a special show titled "A Dialogue with JC", that it has not been very challenging for them as a PSU to seek permissions or no-objection certificates. "NBCC is working on redevelopment projects in Delhi. It has worked in New Moti Bagh and now work is on in East Kidwai Nagar under a self-finance scheme. The government has also assigned NBCC Rs. 25000 crore (worth of) projects in Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar in Delhi," Mittal revealed. Mittal further stated that the NBCC is also developing an integrated township worth Rs. 12000 crore in Karkardooma, Delhi, which is owned by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). He also shared information on the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan and informed that the NBCC is developing a 7000-capacity convention centre and a five-star hotel in Pragati Maidan. He said that the Pragati Maidan area would be signal free within two years, as seven tunnels were also being built there. "The NBCC is also working on a housing project in Gurugram, Alwar and Faridabad. Various ministries are working in close coordination to fulfill the dream of housing for all. The Prime Minister has also agreed to some of the suggestions given by NBCC," Mittal said. Mittal said that the government has nominated the NBCC as a land management agency to identify surplus land with PSUs. He said that government machinery alone cannot do everything. "NBCC is active in 26 states. Manipur is a difficult area to work, as we have got threats in Naxal areas too," he said. The NBCC is trying to enter Uttar Pradesh through various projects. Commenting on his own contribution to NBCC, Mittal said that he has worked on digitisation and quality control. When asked what the road map for the next three years would be like, he said that he has a dream of making buildings that have never been made anywhere. He also praised the quick decisions being taken by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (ANI)
