National Women’s Party unveils election symbol in alliance with All Indian Women’s United Party to start campaigning for Lok Sabha Election 2019

New Delhi [India], Feb 21 (ANI): Reiterating its commitment to eliminate gender disparity in Indian politics and promising to bolster women’s participation across the political spectrum, the National Women’s Party (NWP) unveiled its election symbol, a gas stove allotted to it by the Election Commission of India. The Party is all set to contest more than 283 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi [India], Feb 21 (ANI): Reiterating its commitment to eliminate gender disparity in Indian politics and promising to bolster women’s participation across the political spectrum, the National Women’s Party (NWP) unveiled its election symbol, a gas stove allotted to it by the Election Commission of India. The Party is all set to contest more than 283 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
“Social and economic upliftment of women and increasing political awareness among women remains our topmost agenda. It is only through equal political representation that women will have the power to realize their potential, assert their authority and play a central role in the growth and development of the country. We intend to bring a women-centric narrative in the country’s politics,” stated Dr. Swetha Shetty, M.B.B.S, Chairperson, National Women's Party.
“AIWUP has a strong Pan-India presence from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. We hope that the alliance with NWP has the potential to give voice to the silent hopes and aspirations of women and bring them into the country’s political limelight. We intend to be change agents in Indian politics and give women the power and status they truly deserve,” stated Nasim Bano Khan, National President, All India Women United Party.
With a view to bring like-minded women on a common platform and create a conducive ecosystem for rolling out women empowerment initiatives, the NWP announced alliance with All India Women United Party (AIWUP). NWP also launched its flag on the occasion. The Presidents of the Party’s state units were also introduced during the Delhi meet. Also present at the meet were Nasim Bano Khan, National President, All India Women United Party, Advocate Meena, National Vice President, All India Women United Party and Lakshmi Krishnan, National General Secretary, All India Women United Party.
NWP and AIWUP will also organize a huge rally on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 to highlight the problems and issues faced by women.
NWP was formed with the aim to ensure that women from all strata of society were brought within the political mainstream. The formation of NWP is a confluence of eminent women from all walks of life who want to make a difference to the political system of the country.
The party, which has been receiving an overwhelming response from all sections of society, has urged women from all walks of life to contest the forthcoming elections on its ticket. It feels that the time is apt for women to break outdated patriarchal barriers and play a key role in the political decision-making process.
Smt. Kalyani, All India Women Conference New Delhi, Ms. Shubra Mandiratta, President, South West Delhi Women's Association, Smt. Janaki Rajaram, Former President, South West Delhi Women's Association, Ms. Magdleen Marin, Secretary, South West Delhi Women's Association, Ms. Devayani Madekar, Member of South West Delhi Women's Association were present at the press conference and extended their support to National Women's Party.
