Giving first preference to those who lost their jobs recently, says SpiceJet in the wake of Jet Airways crisis

New Delhi [India], Apr 19 (ANI): Amidst the ongoing Jet Airways crisis, SpiceJet on Friday said that it is giving preference to those who have recently lost their jobs due to "unfortunate closure" of Jet Airways.

New Delhi [India], Apr 19 (ANI): Amidst the ongoing Jet Airways crisis, SpiceJet on Friday said that it is giving preference to those who have recently lost their jobs due to “unfortunate closure” of Jet Airways.
“As we expand and grow, we are giving first preference to those who have recently lost their jobs due to the unfortunate closure of Jet Airways,” Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said in a statement.
“We have already provided jobs to more than 100 pilots, more than 200 cabin crew and more than 200 technical and airport staff,” he added promising to do more.
Singh also said that SpiceJet is making all efforts to minimise the passenger inconvenience and “serve” Indian customers who are finding it difficult to get seats in this busy season.
The crisis in Jet Airways has out around 20,000 jobs at stake.
SpiceJet had said on Thursday that it will induct six more Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft on dry lease in addition to the 16 B737s and 5 Q400s that will soon the fleet. 
The total number of planes to be inducted in the immediate future now stands at 27.
SpiceJet had applied to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for a no objection certificate to import the planes, the airline said a day after Jet Airways stopped all flight operations indefinitely on Wednesday evening. (ANI)
