Flywheel Logistics set to launch national-level pallet network in India
New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): Delhi based Flywheel Logistics announced its launch of a national-level pallet network in India, which will enable the corporate to make proper use of Pallet system to ship consignments across India in a safe, secure and time bound manner. Currently all material, which is transported in conventional surface transport mode across India is carried on either full truck load basis or on the basis of loose cargo. When compared to both these styles a Pallet based transport reduces possibility of damages or losses en-route. The introduction of pallet network will take place across 120 of the 330 destinations of India. The ramp up to all the destinations shall be done over the next six months and will completely cover all stations before end of this fiscal. Flywheel's fleet of 600 containers is being reconfigured to handle the pallets of varied capacity. To start with, four pallet capabilities are being offered, which includes quarter pallet (up to 250 kg), half pallet (up to 500 kg), full pallet (up to 750 kg) and heavy pallet (up to 1000 kg). Pallets of Euro-standard are going to be provided by Flywheel to users and clients. Each pallet will be stretch-wrapped for its journey. The company has introduced a technology to track each uniquely number-tagged pallet for its entire journey on its advanced GPS enabled tracking system which allows clients to view real-time tracking of consignments on map. It has roped in technological assistance of a British pallet network to help set up the network across India. The current seven yards that Flywheel manages across India are also being upgraded to meet the advanced capabilities of pallet handling. "Our endeavor is to introduce global logistics industry best practices which will benefit our clients immensely mainly because this would reduce losses in-transit. In some sectors this accounts for up to five percent of the product value," said CEO of Flywheel, Anil Syal. "Pallet size dispatches are also beneficial for companies, especially mid size companies, that want to consolidate in an effort to be GST ready," added Anil Syal. Flywheel is the only national level Full Container FCL road-network operating in India, which is a global best practice. It operates 40 ft trailers and a hub-and-spoke system to transport 20TEU containers nationally. By using 40 feet trailers to transport two 20 feet containers, Flywheel operates one trailer for every two trucks. The company recently announced a plan to invest Rs.120 crore (18 million USD) over the next two years in upgrading its infrastructure, adding fresh capacities and doubling its warehouse capabilities to two million sq ft. It has now roped in PwC- Pricewaterhouse Coopers and is also looking at raising Rs.100 to 120 crore (15-18 million USD) in the next few months for the purpose of the ramp-up. (ANI)
