First 'HKTDC Lifestyle Expo' opens for Delhiites from December 19th
New Delhi [India], Dec 14 (ANI): The inaugural HKTDC Lifestyle Expo in New Delhi opens 19 December and continues through 20 December at The Lalit New Delhi. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and The Trade Development Bureau (TDB) of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the expo will showcase a range of lifestyle products from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland to buyers in India. "Hong Kong is Asia's lifestyle trendsetter and a showcase for the latest and hottest products and services on the market," said Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, Stephen Liang. "Reflecting this role, our Lifestyle Expo will spotlight a variety of stylish products of high quality and modern design from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland that will appeal to India's growing number of discerning middle-class consumers," added Liang. The expo will feature exhibitors from about 120 Hong Kong and mainland companies operating in a variety of sectors including consumer electronics and ICT products, gifts and premium products, household products and electrical appliances, fashion and accessories and watches and clocks. Hong Kong and Chinese mainland companies are increasingly setting their sights on the Indian market, with the world's second-largest population of close to 1.3 billion people distinguished by a fast expanding middle-class and young consumers. India's retail market, currently estimated at about USD 600 billion, is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 12 percent to reach USD one trillion by 2020, according to the India Brand Equity Foundation. Hong Kong is India's third-largest export market, with the Chinese mainland in fourth place. The mainland is also India's largest source of imports. Seize sourcing opportunities at the expo To facilitate sourcing, the exhibition has specific themes, Digital World, Modern Home and Trendy Boutiques. These themes also highlight Hong Kong's position as a lifestyle trendsetter in Asia. Buyers can also take advantage of the brand new "Live Chat" service at the expo. Staff at the Thematic Showcase Display will connect buyers via WhatsApp to these exhibitors for real-time discussion of potential deals. Big on small orders Importers, distributors, mass retailers, mail-order houses, department stores and specialized stores from New Delhi and neighbouring cities are expected to take part in the two-day Lifestyle Expo. The expo features the popular hktdc.com Small Orders showcase, which spotlights 150 products available for orders in quantities of between five and 1,000 units. This allows buyers to place small orders to test the market while minimizing their risks. It also leverages the growing trend of e-tailing that is changing the face of international trade. Global success The Lifestyle Expo is one of the HKTDC's signature international promotion events and has a successful track record in fostering trade between companies from Hong Kong and emerging markets worldwide including Russia, Poland, Turkey, Dubai, India and Indonesia. The Lifestyle Expo in Mumbai was successfully held in 2010. In New Delhi, the HKTDC will arrange one-to-one business matching meetings and networking events during the expo to further connect Hong Kong and Chinese suppliers with buyer from New Delhi and nearby cities, creating new partnership opportunities. Hong Kong: India's gateway to China and East Asia The HKTDC is committed to exploring business opportunities in India for Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) while helping those from the country to expand their business in East Asia, especially the Chinese mainland, through the Hong Kong platform. Reinforcing Hong Kong-India trade links Hong Kong and India enjoy close and strong bilateral ties formed over more than 150 years of business and cultural links. India was Hong Kong's third-largest export market in the first nine months of 2016, with the city's exports to the country rising 14.4 percent year-on-year to US$11 billion. On the other hand, India was Hong Kong's seventh-largest source of imports in the first three quarters of 2016 when the city's imports from India expanded 9.3 percent to USD nine billion compared with the year-ago period. India is Hong Kong's seventh-largest trading partner globally with bilateral trade of more than USD 20.2 billion in the first nine months of 2016, up 12.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
