Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal, on Monday, called for making India's IP approval system among the top five globally in speed, transparency and efficiency. While emphasising the need to strengthen the innovation ecosystem, the Minister highlighted the importance of encouraging wider participation from startups, MSMEs, women, and youth.

Minister Goyal underscored the country's rapid ascent in the sector, noting that India currently stands as the 7th largest exporter of agricultural and marine products globally. Highlighting the government's ambitious trajectory, Goyal stated, "Today, India is the 7th largest exporter in the world of agricultural and marine products, and in the coming days, we will move ahead to become the world's leading exporter of agricultural and marine products." The fair marks a significant diplomatic milestone as Italy takes on the role of country partner for the first time, a move intended to capitalize on evolving trade relations.

Expanding global trade agreements will open new opportunities for India's farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs as the nation secures "preferential market" status across major international economies, said Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Speaking at the 40th edition of AAHAR, the International Food & Hospitality Fair in New Delhi, Goyal stated that India today covers two-third of global trade with "preferential market access" for Indian goods and services, making the country a "very attractive investment destination."

India will discuss key trade issues with an open mind at the upcoming World Trade Organization (WTO) ministerial meeting later this month, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday, as New Delhi continues to engage global partners while expanding its trade footprint. "We have the WTO ministerial coming up end of this month. We'll discuss these issues with an open mind during the WTO ministerial," Goyal said while speaking on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.

Addressing the specifics of trade negotiations with Washington, Goyal expressed immense confidence in the outcomes India has achieved compared to other global players. "We got the best deal amongst all of the competitors," he remarked.
