Processing of Income Tax refunds is faster than ever: CBDT Chairman

New Delhi [India], Oct 22 (ANI): The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Sushil Chandra on Monday said that higher level of compliance, various legislative and administrative measures have been taken by the Central Government against tax evasion.

New Delhi [India], Oct 22 (ANI): The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Sushil Chandra on Monday said that higher level of compliance, various legislative and administrative measures have been taken by the Central Government against tax evasion.
"We have send around 2 crore SMS' and emails to taxpayers in the last quarter making them aware of their tax liabilities. Our team is continuously running outreach programme throughout the country for deepening the tax base," said Sushil Chandra.
Adding to this Chandra added that all these efforts have contributed 52% of the total tax revenue in FY 2018-19.
"Processing of income tax refunds are faster than ever. We have processed refunds of 2 crore cases so far which is 62% more than last year," he added.
He asserted that last year 1.22 crore cases were resolved with refund of Rs. 83,000 crore.
"This year we have refunded 1.9 lakh crore which is an increase of 31.7%. Net collection has seen an increase of 15.7%, and net collection of Rs 4.89 lakh crore as on October 21st against Rs 4.22 lakh crore in last year," added Chandra. (ANI)
