New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI-NewsVoir): Country has witnessed phenomenal rainfall this year and it has also brought with it diseases like Viral Fever, Malaria, Dengue and Typhoid etc. With a motive to safeguard families from these dreadful diseases during the monsoon season, Believers Church has started a nation-wide Mosquito Net distribution campaign as a part of its community development programme. On the occasion of World Mosquito Day 2016 and during the second phase of the campaign, the Delhi Diocese distributed 2500 mosquito nets to needy families in Mukundpur area of New Delhi in presence of Ramesh Chand Ratan - Rashtriya Mahamantri - BJP, Pankaj Kumar Singh Additional Health Commissioner - MCD North Delhi, Gulab Singh Rathore - Nigam Parshad - Council of MCD North Delhi, Bishop Dr. Simon John and other dignitaries. Speaking at the function of the mosquito net distribution campaign, Ramesh Chand Ratan, said, "I really applaud the noble campaign started by Believers Church to safeguard poor and needy families from diseases during the monsoon season. Numerous people die due to lack of basic amenities and the way Believers Church is working is commendable. I also want to thank Metropolitan Dr. K. P. Yohannan for his leadership and compassion to help the under privileged families of the country." In the next phase, Believers Church's Delhi Diocese will distribute 20,000 mosquito nets in other areas of the Delhi-NCR region. The mosquito net distribution campaign will be done phase wise over next two months. Speaking on the occasion Bishop Dr. Simon John said, "We are thoroughly committed to serve man kind in the best possible way. This is just one small step by Believers Church to protect countrymen from illness and diseases. We are also carrying out cleanliness and awareness drives at various places in Delhi and other parts of the country to make people aware of other hygiene factors which people should take care of so that they don't fall prey to such diseases." This mass mosquito net distribution campaign has been initiated by Dr. K.P. Yohannan, Metropolitan of Believers Church with an aim to address health issues amongst the economically weaker sections of the society. Through this campaign, Believers Church aims to distribute 800,000 mosquito nets during monsoon season across 23 states in the country. Speaking on the second phase of the campaign Metropolitan Dr. K. P. Yohannan said, "I feel that it is our responsibility to help less privileged people of the country in every way we can. I often feel sad that people are losing their life due to lack of basic amenities and awareness on how to protect themselves from diseases. The campaign is not only about distributing the mosquito nets but is to spread awareness amongst the families about dangers of mosquito infested diseases and addressing their most critical needs like health, education and means to livelihood." Last year in a similar drive Believers Church has distributed over 700,000 mosquito nets across the country. The Church's numerous other programmes have benefitted thousands of children, women, leprosy patients and villagers in the form of education, counseling, health camps, medicines, hospitals, shelter, rehabilitation and clean drinking water.
