New Delhi [India], October 19 (ANI): The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a national business association, announced the appointment of Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless Limited, as its new president.
The announcement was made at ICC's annual plenary session held in New Delhi on Friday.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was the chief guest.
Piyush Goyal welcomed Jindal's appointment, emphasizing the critical role of young leaders in shaping India's future, a release said.
He called upon Indian Chamber of Commerce to expand its support for startups, women entrepreneurs, and the evolving startup ecosystem while leveraging government initiatives to enhance skill development and employment among India's youth.
Goyal also highlighted the potential of the tourism sector, urging the chamber to use its reach to promote India as a global tourism hub and connect local talent with international opportunities.
"The India story is shining bright, and the world is watching. It is up to us to seize this moment. By reforming, performing, and transforming--and effectively sharing our story with the world--industry and government can collaborate to unlock new opportunities for the emerging middle class while uplifting those below the poverty line and improving their quality of life," he said.
"I also encourage every citizen to dedicate a part of their lives to serving the nation. This collective effort will help us achieve our shared dream of a prosperous and vibrant India," he added.
In his remarks, Abhyuday Jindal outlined his vision for Indian Chamber of Commerce, expressing his commitment to making the organization a key catalyst for economic growth and innovation.
"I am deeply honoured to lead the Indian Chamber of Commerce, an institution that has played a pivotal role in shaping India's economic landscape for nearly a century. It is my vision to strengthen ICC's role as a catalyst for economic growth and innovation."
"Drawing from my experience across sectors, I aim to promote sustainable business practices, foster inclusive growth, and advocate for policies that empower Indian industries globally. Together, we will build a stronger, more resilient economy supporting India's ambition to become a USD 35 trillion economy by 2047," he added.
Jindal, a Boston University graduate with a background in Economics and Business Management, has extensive experience in project management, supply chain optimization, and strategic leadership, the release said.
"As the Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, he has led significant improvements in the company's operational efficiencies and has driven its transformation towards sustainability and solution-oriented growth," it said.
"His belief in the principles of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and community development will guide his leadership at ICC, where he aims to bring a dynamic approach to policy advocacy and industry collaboration," it added.
The event included a fireside chat with Antonio Bartoli, the Ambassador of Italy to India, who emphasized the importance of enhancing India-Italy bilateral relations.
Highlighting the impact of recent geopolitical developments, such as the Red Sea crisis, Ambassador Bartoli called for international collaboration to secure trade routes, foster cultural exchanges, and boost trade and investment between the two nations.
The session also saw the induction of new leaders into the ICC. Brij Bhushan Agarwal, vice chairman and managing director of Shyam Metalics, was appointed as the senior vice president of ICC. Parthiv Vikram Neotia, executive director of Ambuja Neotia, assumed the role of vice president. (ANI)
